The Yogini’s New Clothes Sassa Activewear has great pieces for the Yogini in you!
When Anna Unson-Price, was asked which between Yoga and shopping is more relaxing, even this Yoga instructor extraordinaire had a hard time choosing.

Indeed, mention shopping to any woman and she’d sure be interested. Shopping, afterall, is certainly a good way for a girl to take the edge off a hard day. Anna knows this first hand and has used it to motivate her students at her studio in Olympia.
“I tell them, after sweating it out in class for a week, instead of rewarding yourself with food, go and buy a new outfit,” says Anna. “Not that food is bad, but it’s more fulfilling to slip into those skinny jeans and see what Yoga has done for your body.”

Not only is Yoga a fast and effective way to lose weight and reshape the body, it’s also the only form of workout that covers all bases - cardiovascular, resistance, flexibility and the mind. Certain poses also help in the treatment and alleviation of conditions unique to women like Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), infertility and breast cancer. Pregnant women can also benefit from the breathing techniques taught in Yoga to ease the burden when giving birth.
Unlike other forms of exercise, Yoga doesn’t require any kind of equipment, only the clothes on your back. So getting the right kind of workout clothes is extremely essential.
“Putting on a flattering outfit motivates people to actually go to the gym or to exercise outdoors in public,” says Larina Kase, PsyD, MBA, President of Performance and Success Coaching LLC in Philadelphia.
A pair of yoga pants is undisputedly the most flattering to women of all shapes and sizes. The straight cut provides a streamlined look from hip to ankle, and a pair that fits perfectly at your waist does wonders for the rear. Because it’s made of stretch material, it allows room for a wide range of motion when doing poses.
The standard tank top made from breathable fibers is your best bet if you don’t want to be a walking Petri dish by the end of your workout. A spaghetti strap camisole that comes with built in pads is a good choice for women who want more coverage.
“Actually even if there are no mirrors in the gym, I’d prefer a sexy top and snug two way stretch pants than a ratty, old t-shirt when working out, any day. You’re there in the gym to workout and look good, so why not start with your outfit.” says Anna matter-of-factly.
Although style is a thing to consider, always remember to put function first. Loose-fitting tops are not appropriate for Yoga because they can ride up during some of the moves. Women who are heavy on top may want to look for workout bras made specifically for their figures, with such features as adjustable straps for a custom fit. Scandalously short shorts, make it difficult to go into some of the poses without causing a stir among your classmates (this goes for men too!). Most Yoga instructors prefer their students garbed in clothes that show off their knees to make sure that they are doing the poses properly.
However, you can’t focus on burning calories if you keep burning a hole in your pocket shopping for gym clothes. Anna suggests getting investment pieces like a pair of stretch pants and tank top. “But of course you need more than one pair of workout clothes to last you the week,” she points out.
A pair of stretch pants and a tank top would normally cost you an arm and a leg so to speak. Not with Sassa Activewear’s reasonably priced apparel! For less than half of what you would spend on workout clothes normally, you can get two pairs of stretch pants, 3 tank tops and even squeeze in a pair of Capri pants. The money you’ll save on clothes can be used to buy, well, more clothes.
Because of the comfort and versatility of Yoga clothes it’s no surprise that it has broken out of the confines of the gym and into the streets. Adding more prints, colors and embellishments to pants and tops made the transition from gym clothes to everyday wear a snap.
“What you can do is get a pair of nice sandals and a trendy bag, and you’re good to hit the streets. One of my students ditches her sweat drenched top, and just puts on a jacket that she zips all the way up. It’s really cute.”
Sassa Activewear’s fashionable line of workout clothes guarantees that you’ll look as good as you feel while doing sun salutations in your powdered glass blue Capri pants or spring bouquet green tank top. Before you know it, you’ll actually be looking for excuses to go to the gym.
Yoga is anchored on the principle of well-being, self-acceptance and self-love. Sassa Activewear is the modern yogini’s new clothes, giving the confidence women need to be aware of their shape, accept their curves and love their body.
Sassa Activewear is available in Robinsons Department Stores, all SM Hypermart branches and The Landmark.
